Today’s note starts with three themes from scripture.
Called to Blessing, Suffering for Right and Wrong, and Serving for God’s Glory
My daily devotional started at 1Peter 3:15, which lead to to adding verse 16 and the following 1Peter 3:8 & 1Peter 4:10,11. All this reminded me of the gifts we receive from God and how we are to use them to Glorify God and the his Kingdom. We should be the stewards and disciples of the “Word” to the world.
Called to Blessing
Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. (1 Peter 3:8 NLT)
Suffering for Right and Wrong
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. (I Peter 3:15, 16 NKJV)
Serving for God’s Glory
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (I Peter 4:10, 11 NKJV)
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. (1 Peter 4:10, 11 NLT)
Have a blessed week walking with our Lord.
