Stretching Our Spiritual Habits

Building our Spiritual character…

But  the fruit of the Spirit is  love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness,  goodness,  faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control.  Against such there is no law.  And those  who    are  Christ’s  have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.  Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.  (Galatians 5:22-26)

Modeling our character after our Lord Jesus Christ we should focus improving the nine attributes in Galatians so we shine the light of our Lord to the world.  In our walk in the Spirit we preserve, allowing God to transform our characters, and hope; in our walk with God’s love who gives it to us.

Not that I have already  attained, or am already  perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.  Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing  I do, forgetting those things which are behind and  reaching forward to those things which are ahead,  I press toward the goal for the prize of  the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are  mature,  have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise,  God will reveal even this to you.  Nevertheless, to  the degree  that we have already attained,  let us walk  by the same rule, let us be of the same mind. (Philippians 3:12-16)

I pray we all can stretch ourselves to grow spiritual this new year and glorify God in our walks.

The Word of Our God…

churchviewbgThe grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8 NKJV)

Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me!

Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word.Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. I am a sojourner on the earth; hide not your commandments from me! My soul is consumed with longing for your rules at all times.
(Psalm 119:2-8, 17-20 ESV)

Daily verse:
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
(I John 5:14, 15 NKJV)

Daily Prayer:
I pray Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. That I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word. In Jesus name Amen.

Our God Is Always With Us

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 NLT)

- Say thank you to him for each attribute of his divine nature.

- Focus our hearts on him.

- Thank him for his many gracious gifts to us.

- Thank him for our relationship with him.

Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the Lord. Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him.

Daily Verse

I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food. (Job 23:12 NLT)

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.* (Isaiah 40:31 NLT)*

Daily Prayer

Dear Lord, teach us to wait upon You, that we may know Your strength.

Phillip,

As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. (Proverbs 27:17 NLT)

Spiritually Fit

imageThis is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.*(1 Timothy 1:15, 16 NLT)*
Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. *(Hebrews 12:14 NLT)*
Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly. “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” *(1 Timothy 4:7, 8 NLT)*
Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8 NLT)
